Daily Devotions from the Bible!

The Book of Proverbs, attributed largely to King Solomon, offers practical wisdom for living a life that honors God. These two verses emphasize the value of humility in listening to godly advice and submitting to correction. The audience was ancient Israel, and these words were intended to guide the people in making decisions rooted in wisdom, while recognizing that ultimately, God’s will is sovereign over all human plans.

In these verses, we are reminded that although we may have many dreams and ideas, God’s purpose will always stand. This truth encourages us to seek wisdom and counsel, while surrendering our plans to the Lord, knowing that His plans are perfect. God’s purpose, far greater than our individual desires, will prevail in the end.

Imagine a sailor plotting a course across the sea. He might have a detailed map and clear directions, but if a storm comes, the winds and waves have the final say. Similarly, we can make plans, but it is God who directs our lives. We must trust that His direction is always better, even if it doesn’t align with our initial expectations.

As you reflect on your life, consider: Are there plans you’ve made that need to be surrendered to God’s purpose? How can you seek wisdom from others and trust God’s guiding hand?
